TFR Browser is advisory only. It is not produced, endorsed, or verified by the FAA, and receiving no notification does not confirm that no restriction applies to your flight. Always verify at tfr.faa.gov before you fly.
Common questions
I haven't received any notifications. Is it broken?
Usually not. Most states see only a handful of new restrictions in a week, and quiet stretches are normal — the app notifies you when something new is published, not on a schedule.
To check it's working rather than merely silent, open Settings → Send test notification. That exercises the whole delivery chain and tells you in plain language if any part of it is broken.
Worth confirming as well:
- You have at least one state selected.
- Notifications are allowed for TFR Browser in your device settings.
- A Focus mode or Do Not Disturb isn't holding them back silently.
Why do I get alerts for restrictions hundreds of miles away?
Filtering is by state, not by your position. The app never asks for your location — that's a deliberate trade, and it means a restriction at the far end of a state you've selected will still alert you.
Then why didn't I get one just across the state line?
Same reason. If you fly near a border, select both states.
I've deselected every state. Am I opted out?
No. Nationwide restrictions still reach you regardless of state selection, because they apply everywhere. To stop notifications entirely, turn off the notification toggle in Settings.
A TFR appeared that doesn't start for two weeks.
That's expected. "New" means recently published, not starting soon. The FAA often publishes restrictions well ahead of when they take effect.
Game Days shows no NFL games.
The stadium restriction under FDC 4/3621 covers regular and post-season play only. Preseason games carry no restriction, so nothing is listed for them. Regular-season fixtures appear from September.
The restriction end time seems wrong.
End times on Game Days are estimates. The restriction runs until one hour after the game ends, and nobody can know in advance when a game will end. Treat the end of the window as the earliest it might lift, not the latest.
I deleted the app and reinstalled it. My settings are gone.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device: your states, your notification registration, and your acknowledgement of the safety notice. Select your states again and notifications will resume.
Does it cost anything?
No. It's free, with no accounts, no subscription, no advertising, and no analytics. There is no paid tier planned.
